Average review score:

Excellent Concept!
In 1997, the editors of this work organized A Meeting of the Minds 2: ITEC Virtual Conference '97. Presenters from around the globe submitted essays which formed the basis for electronic discussions during the virtual conference. This collection includes over 40 essays which were originally presented at this groundbreaking conference. Contributors are from Australia, Canada, Iceland, the UK and the USA.

The conference was divided into ten strands as follows: Censorship: More Problems. Possible Solutions?; Children's Literature and the Internet: Issues and Services; Critical Thinking in the Electronic Age; Electronic Collection Development: Selection and Management Issues; More Hot Spots for Teacher Librarians; MOO Trek: Using MOOs in Education; Multiple Personalities?: Teacher Librarian, Cybrarian, Director of Information Services; Process and Product: How Do We Access Students' Work?; Professional Electronic Networks for Teacher Librarians; The School Library Home Page

Each strand is represented in the work with essays written by school library professionals who provide a wide range of viewpoints and demonstrate the universality of issues concerning the profession.

This is an excellent collection of essays dealing with many of the concerns of our profession as we continue to embrace the electronic world. Not only useful to teacher librarians, but could be used to further educate teachers and administrators on the role of the teacher librarian in a digital world.

Never Have Red Wine Under the Chupah
Published in Paperback by Simantov Publications (28 August, 2000)
Author: Gail Mendeles Hay
Average review score:

I wish I had this one when *I* got married!
"Never Have Red Wine Under the Chupah" is a no-nonsense, absolutely essential guide to everything a Jewish bride (or groom) needs to know and do before the wedding ceremony. From the selection of the caterer to the placement of the tables to the size of the dance floor, Gail Mendeles Hay uses both horror stories and successes to illustrate her many points. At the same time, the book is an enjoyable read, even for those of us who have already made our own mistakes on the way to the wedding canopy.

As Ms. Hay points out throughout the book, while the primary focus is on weddings, many of the points are equally valid for other types of catered affairs such as a bar mitzvah. If you are planning an affair, or know someone who is, buy this book!...

life's light and dark times
Night Times and Light Times tells the life-changing story that took writer and photographer David Hay Jones from the urban sprawl of Athens, Greece to Lapland, popularly known as Europe's last wilderness. It is a sparsely populated area of vast forests and glaciated mountains, a European Alaska. Hay Jones travelled on foot, by bus and train across this wilderness and the reader follows him step by step as he is transformed and spiritually renewed. After completing the journey and his book, Hay Jones settled in Lapland where he continues to work as a writer and photographer.

No Hay DOS Sin Tres/Try Anything Twice
Published in Paperback by Aims Intl Books (January, 1986)
Author: Peter Cheyney

Amazing!
One of the most amazing thrillers I have ever read. The plot conceived by the author is simply mind-blowing. Also it keeps the reader on the edge all the time. The language used and the kind of humor is also commendable. In a nutshell, this is one book worth reading.

Pathways Through Surgical Finals
Published in Hardcover by Churchill Livingstone (June, 1993)
Authors: J.A. Britto and M.J.R. Dalrymple-Hay
Average review score:

Pathways through surgical finals
An excellent series of logically presented flowcharts for diagnosis by history, examination and investigation. General treatment options are also commented on. Provides a coherent framework to learn (and, contrary to recommendations in the book) - to cram in surgery for the exams. The only drawback is that it is now 7 years since publication. But an excellent review - in any case

A Pilgrims Almanac (Reflections for Each Day of the Year)
Published in Paperback by Forest of Peace Books (November, 1989)
Author: Edward Hays

Breakfast with Ed Hays
I keep a copy of "The Pilgrims Almanac" on my kitchen table. Every morning I read the reflection and/or story that is on that date. This book is a collection of facts and fiction for each day of the year. Sometimes the story can be about something that I've never thought about before, like the person who invented the stoplight or the first telephone operator. With the fact/story of the day, Ed Hays offers a reflection . I particularly enjoyed the one about the man who invented the stoplight and how instead of rushing through the yellow lights of our life, we should be patient and reflective at those times. I love how his reflections are on topics that anyone can relate to. I've given this book to many of my friends and they have also enjoyed it. The nice part is that even though the stories don't change, the fact that I haven't read them for a year is refreshing. This book offers a daily reflection that is not too long or involved. It reminds me each morning that God is there helping people through their every day ups and downs. I wholeheartedly endorse this book and recommend it to give to friends as a gift. Ed Hays has also written other wonderful books such as "Twelve and a Half Keys" and "Prayers for the Domestic Church".
